Brenau researchers to present EASe app study at AOTA 2014

EASe evidence based programs

Vision Audio Inc. is pleased to announce that the results from the Brenau EASe app study will be presented by researchers at the prestigious AOTA 2014 conference. The 2011 study of EASe games was presented at the 2013 AOTA meeting last April in San Diego.

EASe App System - Researcher's conclusion:

"A significant strength of the study was that all 13 participants made gains in EASe IQ throughout the study, which represents improved auditory habituation.  The majority of the participants (n=11) improved their COPM Performance and/or Satisfaction scores from baseline to reassessment, reflecting a change for the better in occupational performance.  Of the 11 participants that demonstrated gains, three participants displayed a significant improvement for Change in Performance and Change in Satisfaction.

The "significant improvement for Change in Performance and Change in Satisfaction" happened within 30 days of the start of the program.

A biological basis for Sensory Processing Disorder:

If you have not seen this study please, please read on!

For those therapists who are dedicated to helping children with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) it has been very difficult when others in the medical community question whether SPD even exists in the first place. Seeing a child terrorized by noise or light, or touch or smell, diagnosed with a behavior problem is especially disturbing because the type of treatment that might help that child may not be integrated into their program.

Treating a sensory child with behavior therapy before addressing their sensory issues, is asking the child to deny his or her own physical experience and respond to the world inappropriately. Treating sensory issues first makes behavior based treatment more effective by reducing sensory issues and barriers to communication.

When this study was revealed a few days ago, I could almost hear a collective sigh from sensory integration therapists because now the world has clear proof that SPD is real and biological in nature. Will the study change the treatment of SPD? Maybe. But there is a better chance that more children will be treated for the challenge they face, sensory processing disorder. And that is good news.

What mothers say about EASe Listening Therapy.

"When we started the CDs a new child began emerging.   Her whole persona has brightened.  The serious behavior problems are under control.  No more screaming and shaking the moment a baby cries.  She still is frightened and needs to be encouraged, but her response is controlled and it takes much more crying to really frustrate her to the point that she falls apart.  Her personality has taken a 180 degree turn to happy and content which is the best benefit so far.

Another unexpected benefit is that her speech has improved.  She has always had a good vocabulary but has not always used it effectively or logically.  Now she is putting words and ideas together and interacting much more age appropriately.  Her eye contact has improved to the point where you would hardly know there had been in issue, and she gives affection much more spontaneously.  Her preschool teachers have noticed improvements socially and verbally.

We are looking forward to what continues to emerge over the following months as we continue to use these CDs consistently as directed.  Who knows if this is a cure, but it is a welcome relief to our family.  We feel like we finally are getting our child and our lives back.  Natalie"
